The Bully Survey System (Swearer, 2001) is an important tool for data-based decision-making. The Bully Survey System includes several versions: elementary, middle and high school, teacher, parent, mentor, and a short form. All versions are equivalent, so that comparisons across students, teachers, mentors, and parents can be made.
Results from the Bully Survey allow school personnel and critical stakeholders to understand the characteristics of the bullying behaviors that are taking place in their schools and communities. Results are then used to guide intervention strategies and choices.
There are six versions of the Bully Survey: Youth (grades 6-12), Elementary (grades 3-5), Teacher, Parent, Mentor, and Short Form. All Surveys can be administered electronically via “Survey Monkey” or paper-and-pencil. The Bully Survey can be purchased for use in schools and organizations that work with youth.
The Advantages of the Bully Survey System

- Prevention and intervention components most likely to be effective for your school will be developed from an analysis of your data and an anti-bullying action plan will be collaboratively developed.
